Your writing reminds me of "The Great Railway Bazaar" by Paul Theroux. He crossed three continents by train back in the 1970's. Like you, he has an eye for detail, and he paints vivid pictures with his words. I envy you. I used to love going on long journeys. Now, with Asher getting older and going to kindergarten soon, I don't see me doing that anymore. I will have my adventures through his experiences from now on.
Frank I remember that book fondly. Maybe fondly isn't the right word. I remember him drinking too many beers and talking about his problems back home and getting depressed. Hurtling through Russia and thinking 'why am I here?' That's what made the book for me. And certainly Asher is giving us all adventures through his experiences. Hope to see you guys sometime soon.
